The first article, citing leftist Iraqi news website Al-Badeel Al-Iraqi, described the group as "previously unknown". The leaflets described the IARR as a "movement of Iraqi Communists and Marxists experienced in armed struggle, leftist Iraqi nationalists, and their supporters."
